Well, this has been an extremely difficult spring. I had a number of business trips, and a number of rainy weekends. I ended up taking a lot more vacation days than I wanted, but I finally have Yuletide in the water! This is the latest that she has ever been launched in her 21 years. I did replace the seacock, which had been seeping. And for some reason the varnish took a real beating this last winter, with huge strips of the toe rail peeling off. Aside from that it was simply finding the time and weather to get the work done.
Mistletoe went in as well, and she sports a new 3.5 hp 2 stroke.
The big news is that I received a mooring in Lake Tashmoo. The Assistant Harbormaster John Crocker called and asked if I wanted a mooring. That is like being offered lifetime season tickets to the Red Sox. So, once I have the boat ready for the voyage, it will be off to the Vineyard for the summer. I can't wait. In the meantime we have an easterly storm fast approaching for tonight, with 50+ mph winds, so first thing home I'll be out to the saltmarsh securing Mistletoe down.
We are also debating the name of the old little skiff, which will live on the Vineyard. I'm rooting for "Scrooge".
