We took Friday, Oct. 23rd off, to get away to Hadleys for a long weekend. Out on Buzzards Bay by noon, we had the whole bay to ourselves. Only one other boat on the horizen. Imagine my surprise to enter Hadleys to find one mooring left, and a trail of boats arriving for the rest of the afternoon. It was wonderful weather, and many people took advantage of one last cruise. By mid-day Saturday it looked like any July weekend. The wind was a bit brisk, but we went for a couple of swims, and had some good meals: Swordfish on Friday night.

I did see a small duck, with a circle on its cheek. The surprising thing was that this duck dove underwater like a cormorant, and stayed under for quite some time. When he surfaced he did not seem to have the wet wings problems that cormorants have. We also saw a male and female Mallard, and also saw a small dog on the shore by the Yellow house. He seemed abandoned, which was tough since he was on private property. The house was occupied, so I have to assume that he was owned by the occupants. Cute little guy, all white except for a brown head.

Our sail back was Sunday afternoon, when we flew back under full main and jib with 13 knot breeze....

Another great cruise to add to one of the best sailing seasons in a while!
